Joe Del Tosto, known to many of his friends as the
Godfather for his Italian heritage, is getting an
Extreme Makeover: Golf Edition from Tobacco Road Golf &
Travel after he was randomly selected as the winner of
the $10,000 Ultimate Golf Giveaway. “I thought to
myself why not register? I had been to the Pinehurst
area on several golf trips and loved it. You can’t win
if you don’t enter and boy am I glad I did,” said Del
Tosto.
As
the winner, Joe and seven of his golf buddies will enjoy
a free trip to play Pine Needles, Mid Pines CC, Tobacco
Road GC and National Golf Club with lodging in the
Village of Pinehurst. In addition, Joe will receive a
Titleist Makeover including a complete set of the new
Titleist AP-1 irons, a Titleist Driver, 3 wood, hybrid
club, two Vokey wedges, a Scotty Cameron Newport putter,
Titleist Staff bag, 2 dozen pro V1 balls, gloves and a
pair of Footjoy Shoes. Completing this perfect getaway,
Joe will receive $500 travel cash and $250 in dining
cash.
The 66 year old Columbus, OH resident took up the game
upon his retirement 9 years ago. “I had never really
taken up the game and went down to the local club and
volunteered as a starter” says Joe. “I needed a hobby
and golf seemed like a logical choice.” In the 9 years
of playing at Safari Country Club and other local
Columbus courses, Joe has shaved his handicap down to a
16. Asked about his greatest golfing moment up until
now, Joe answered with excitement “I shot a 78 two weeks
ago. My best round ever!”
Joe has three sons that live in Florida, Pennsylvania
and Ohio, so it was easy choice as to who would be the
first invites on the trip. “I go on trips with my
golfing buddies at least twice a year and see them all
the time at the club. This is a special trip so I want
my boys to join me for this one.” Congratulations Joe!
We look forward to seeing you in the Sandhills soon!
